This little guy was so fun right out of the gate – even the humid weather of a Virginia August wasn’t slowing him down. And I again was so thankful I got to meet yet another great family! I hope you enjoy their summer holiday photos.
One of my goals is to photograph different combinations of family members, in each other’s arms and close. So many good snuggles from this little guy!
I’m all about family connection, and that includes furry family members! Incorporating pets adds an element of zany, but it works well with the style of photos I take, which is not highly posed. I definitely do direct and guide, but posing children exactly just so is often fruitless (and really, their natural exuberance is so much better), but try that with a pet and that’s usually a recipe for disaster. So, natural and real works so much better! Also, this family’s dog was very calm, friendly, and easy-going. If a family’s pet is skittish or a handful, I recommend families bring a friend to help with their pet.
I think we finally got a lot of energy out, which is the perfect time to get some relaxed images. These are often my favorite.
And yes, I do get try to get that posed, everyone looking at the camera shot to send to grandma or for holiday cards.
Summer holiday sessions are held at Claude Moore Park, which is beautiful in any season. Getting holiday photos in the summer lets you have plenty of time to get your holiday cards out. I also have more flexibility in rescheduling for bad weather. Check out the information on holiday sessions to book your family’s holiday session.
